To all --
I am resending this ADMIN post from last year. We've gotten a lot of new
members in the last year or so, and I think it's a timely reminder for everyone!

There has been a slight change in the policy regarding messages that can
be forwarded to the list. In an effort to maintain a level of security for all
we have decided that forwarding of petitions to the list not be allowed. A
petition is defined as any email message that requests the recipient to add
his/her name and location or email address to the end of the message and to
forward it on to "everyone you know".
These petitions are also usually EXTREMELY long and take up quite a
bit of space when people receive the list in digest format. Repeating
petitions make for very long and dull reading!
Finally, please remember when sending ANY forward to edit out all headers with
email addresses and suppress the email addresses of other
recipients. We have over 200 people on this list, many of whom don't post (not
to mention the people who subscribe and unsubscribe in a short time span) and
it is possible that someone could steal a list of addresses for spamming
purposes.
